Ragdoll Kittens for Sale Sydney: Ragdoll Breeders in NSW

Looking for Ragdoll kittens for sale in Sydney? I'm Shannon, and Regal Ragdoll Kittens is my family's registered home cattery in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands, around 125 kilometres down the Hume from the Sydney CBD. Close enough that Sydney families drive down for the day, far enough that the kittens are raised with a garden, a kelpie and two children rather than in a suburban breeding shed.

Every kitten goes home at twelve to thirteen weeks, desexed, microchipped and already transferred on the NSW Pet Registry, with two F3 vaccinations, a vet health certificate and pedigree papers. Both parents test negative for HCM (RD) and PKD. If you live anywhere from Campbelltown to Palm Beach, collecting in person is the way to do it.

Ragdoll cats for sale in Sydney this season

These are the litters we have on the ground right now. Sydney buyers usually reserve at six to eight weeks, once they have visited and met the mother, because a weekend drive to the Highlands is easy to fit in. A deposit holds a kitten and comes straight off the price. Every kitten is $1,500, whatever its colour, and each one is listed on our Ragdoll kittens for sale page.

Collecting a Ragdoll kitten in Sydney: the drive down the Hume

Sydney is the one big city where I would never suggest a flight. Our pet transport option is built for interstate families, and putting a kitten on a plane to Mascot when you can be in our driveway in under two hours adds stress for no reason. So every Sydney kitten is collected from our home in Bowral, by appointment, on a day that suits you.

The route is simple: the M5 South-West Motorway out of the city, onto the Hume Motorway past Campbelltown, then off at the Mittagong or Bowral exit. The M5 is tolled, so set up your tag before you go. The drive home is the part to plan. A kitten in a carrier copes well with ninety minutes of steady motorway; three hours of Friday afternoon crawl through Beverly Hills is another matter.

From Macarthur and the south-west

Families in Campbelltown, Camden, Narellan and Oran Park have the shortest run, close to an hour door to door. You can easily visit at six weeks and come back again for collection without it eating your weekend.

From the inner city, eastern suburbs and inner west

Allow an hour and three quarters each way in clear traffic. I suggest a mid-morning collection so you are back over the Georges River before the afternoon build-up.

From the Hills, north shore and northern beaches

This is the long run, often two hours or more each way, and it is still a comfortable day trip. Bring a second adult if you can, so someone can sit beside the carrier and talk quietly to the kitten.

Collect from our home in Bowral at 12 to 13 weeksAbout 1 hour from Campbelltown, 1 hour 45 minutes from the CBD, 2 hours or more from the northern beachesNo transport charge; you cover your own fuel and tolls

For the drive itself: seatbelt the carrier on the back seat, not on a lap, and leave the kitten in it the whole way however much it protests. Skip feeding for an hour or two before you leave. The step-by-step version, including what to have set up at home before you arrive, sits in our guide to buying a Ragdoll kitten.

Strata, renting and NSW cat rules in Sydney

Every Sydney council works under the NSW Companion Animals Act, so the core rules are the same in Parramatta as in Randwick. Check the detail with your own council.

Microchipping and the NSW Pet Registry

In NSW a cat must be microchipped before it is sold or given away, or by 12 weeks of age. It must also be registered for life by 12 weeks of age or immediately on transfer, whichever happens first. We do the microchipping and the transfer into your name. Your job is to pay the lifetime registration fee, which you can do online through the NSW Pet Registry. Leave it unpaid and you risk a $330 penalty notice and a late fee.

If you later move from, say, a Surry Hills unit to a house in Kellyville, you must update your contact details on the Registry yourself.

Desexing and the annual permit

Cat owners in NSW pay an annual permit if a cat is not desexed by 4 months of age. Our kittens are desexed by our vet before they leave, so that permit never applies to you.

Places your cat is not allowed

Cats are banned from public places within 10 metres of where food is prepared or eaten, and from wildlife protection areas that a council has declared and signposted. There is currently no statewide NSW law forcing cats to be kept indoors. A private member's bill to require cat containment has been before NSW Parliament since 2025, so keep an eye on it.

Apartments, strata and renting

A lot of our Sydney families live in strata. In NSW, by-laws that ban all pets are not valid. Your owners corporation may still ask you to tell them in writing, and can refuse only where an animal unreasonably interferes with other residents. If they do not decide within a reasonable time, the pet is treated as approved.

Renters have a separate process. Since 19 May 2025, tenants apply using the NSW pet application form, and the landlord has 21 days to answer. No answer means the pet is approved without conditions. A landlord cannot ask for a higher bond or higher rent because of the cat.

Ragdoll breeders Sydney families can visit

If you have been searching for Ragdoll cat breeders in Sydney, you will have noticed how few of them publish an address, a Breeder ID or DNA results. Regal Ragdoll Kittens is a registered home cattery in Bowral, the closest part of the Southern Highlands to the city, and our NSW Breeder Identification Number, B0273618228, is on every listing as NSW law requires.

Being a drive away is the real advantage for Sydney families. You can visit from six weeks, meet the mother and see where your kitten has grown up before you pay a deposit, then come back to collect at twelve to thirteen weeks. Whichever breeder you choose, ask for the checks in our list of what to look for in Ragdoll breeders, and meet our cats on our queens and king page.

Ragdoll cat Sydney life: heat, balconies and ticks

Western Sydney heat

Ragdolls carry a semi-long coat with a light undercoat, and they do not cope with heat the way a short-haired moggie does. Sydney weather varies more than people expect: on 4 January 2020 Penrith Lakes reached 48.9 degrees, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the Sydney basin. If you are out west, in a top-floor unit or behind a wall of west-facing glass, an air conditioner set to around 24 degrees on hot afternoons is not a luxury. Leave several water bowls out, including one on a tiled floor, which a hot Ragdoll will happily stretch out on.

Balconies and high-rise living

This is my one firm rule for apartment buyers. For a Sydney apartment I'd steer you towards keeping the balcony door shut until the balcony is fully netted or screened. Ragdolls are not clumsy, but they are curious, they follow birds, and a kitten has no sense of height. Mesh is cheap. A fall from the fifth floor is not.

Inside, a tall cat tree beside a window gives a Ragdoll most of what it wants from the outdoors. They are floor-level cats compared with an Abyssinian or a Bengal, so a sturdy tree of about 1.5 metres with a wide platform suits them better than a wall of shelves.

Paralysis ticks on the bushland edge

If your street backs onto bush on the northern beaches, the upper north shore or around the Royal National Park, paralysis ticks are a real risk to any cat allowed outside, especially from September to December. The simplest protection is an indoor life or an enclosed outdoor run. If your cat does go out, ask your vet about a cat-safe tick preventative and run your fingers through the coat each evening. Ragdoll fur hides ticks well, so check around the head, neck and ears first.

Vets and after-hours care

Sydney has several 24-hour emergency animal hospitals spread across the city. Find out which one is closest to you on the day your kitten comes home, and save the number in your phone. Book a first check with your regular vet within the first fortnight; take along the health certificate and vaccination record we give you, and the vet will schedule the next booster from there. More on temperament and day-to-day care is in our guide to the Ragdoll cat breed.

What Sydney buyers ask about Ragdoll kittens

Anything else, call me on 0420 163 548 or send us a message. I usually reply within two days.

Are there Ragdoll breeders near Sydney?

Yes. We are a registered home cattery in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands, about 125 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD. Most of our Sydney families drive down on a weekend morning to collect. Our NSW Breeder ID appears on every listing, and you can meet the parents of every litter on our queens and king page before you decide.

How far is Bowral from Sydney to pick up a kitten?

Bowral is roughly an hour and three quarters from the Sydney CBD in light traffic, via the M5 and the Hume Motorway. From Campbelltown or Camden it is closer to an hour. From the northern beaches or the Hills, allow two hours or more each way. We book collections by appointment, so you can pick a time that misses the worst of the traffic.

Can I keep a Ragdoll cat in a Sydney apartment?

Yes, and Ragdolls are one of the better breeds for it because they are calm and happy indoors. In NSW strata, by-laws that ban all pets are not valid, though you may need to tell your owners corporation in writing. Renters need the landlord's consent through the NSW pet application form. Net or screen any balcony before your kitten uses it.

Do I need to register my Ragdoll kitten with my Sydney council?

Yes. NSW law requires lifetime registration on the NSW Pet Registry by 12 weeks of age or straight away on transfer, whichever comes first. We microchip your kitten and transfer it to your name, and you then pay the lifetime registration fee online or through your council. Because our kittens are already desexed, you will not need the annual non-desexed cat permit.

Do you deliver Ragdoll kittens to Sydney homes?

No. We do not drive kittens to homes, and flying a kitten to Sydney Airport from an hour and a half away makes no sense. Sydney families collect their kitten from our home in Bowral by appointment, at twelve to thirteen weeks old. Our kitten delivery page explains the flight option we use for interstate families.

How much are Ragdoll kittens for sale in Sydney?

Every Regal Ragdoll kitten is $1,500, whatever its colour or pattern. That includes desexing, microchipping and transfer on the NSW Pet Registry, two F3 vaccinations, a vet check and pedigree papers. Sydney families collect from us in Bowral, so there is no flight to pay for. Budget for fuel, the M5 toll and the NSW lifetime registration fee.

Ragdoll kittens for sale NSW, outside Sydney

Families just outside Sydney often find our Ragdoll kittens for Wollongong and the Illawarra page more useful for directions, while Hunter buyers should read our notes on Ragdoll kittens for sale in Newcastle. Canberra and ACT families have their own page for Ragdoll kittens for sale in Canberra, and every region in NSW and interstate is listed in the Ragdoll kittens near me section of our kittens page.

Planning a Ragdoll for your Sydney home?

Tell me which part of Sydney you are in, whether it is a house or a unit, and who else lives there. I will suggest kittens that suit, and a visit time that dodges the traffic.
