Getting your kitten home
Ragdoll kitten delivery across Australia: collect or fly
There are two ways to get your Ragdoll kitten home: collect them from us in Bowral, NSW, or have me book a flight with a licensed pet transport company to your nearest capital-city airport. Flights usually cost $350 to $550, charged at cost.
Kittens travel at twelve to thirteen weeks, once they are desexed, fully vaccinated for their age and vet checked, so they are as robust as they will ever be for the trip.
Collecting your kitten from Bowral
Approximate drive times in normal traffic. Collection is by appointment.
| Coming from | Drive to Bowral | Main route |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney CBD | about 1 hr 30 | M5, then the Hume Motorway |
| Campbelltown and Macarthur | about 50 min | Hume Motorway |
| Wollongong | about 1 hr | Picton Road or Illawarra Highway |
| Canberra | about 2 hr | Federal Highway, then the Hume |
| Newcastle | about 3 hr 30 to 4 hr | M1, through Sydney, then the Hume |
Collection takes about an hour. We go through the kitten's folder, you meet the mother, and you leave with a kitten who has had a quiet morning and a light breakfast. For the drive home, keep the carrier on the back seat, belted in, and resist opening it. A kitten loose in a car is far more stressed than one in a covered carrier.
Flying your kitten to your capital city

| Darwin | about 4 hr 30 | Ask me about timing |
How kitten flights work
I book every flight through a licensed pet transport company rather than directly with the airline. They hold the airline approvals for live animals, supply the carrier and handle the kitten from check-in until you collect. Here is what happens:
- Booking. Once your kitten's go-home date is set, I book the earliest suitable flight, a direct one wherever the route allows, and send you the booking reference and collection details.
- Flight morning. Your kitten gets a light breakfast and a last cuddle with mum, then goes into an airline-approved carrier with a blanket that smells of home. I take them to the pet transport company at Sydney.
- The flight. Live animals travel in a pressurised, temperature-controlled part of the aircraft. Most kittens sleep through it.
- Collection. You collect from the pet transport company or airline freight area at your airport, usually about an hour after landing. Bring photo ID.
- Home. I text you when the kitten is checked in, and I'd love a message when they are home.
If a flight is delayed or cancelled, the pet transport company keeps the kitten safe at their facility and rebooks. That rarely happens, but it is one reason I don't book the last flight of the day.
Arrival day checklist
- The starter room set up with litter tray, water, food and somewhere to hide.
- The food they came with, ready to go. Kittens are usually hungry after a flight.
- Other pets shut away for the first evening.
- A quiet house. Visitors can meet the kitten next weekend.
Your kitten's papers, vet book and the kitten pack travel with them. Everything included in the price is listed on our Ragdoll kittens for sale page, and the full buying process is on how to buy a Ragdoll kitten.
Registering your kitten outside NSW
Your kitten's microchip is transferred to you on the NSW Pet Registry before they leave. If you live in another state or territory, you then register them under your own state's or council's rules, which differ quite a lot on registration, desexing paperwork and cat containment. Each of our location pages covers the rules for that city, listed under Ragdoll kittens near me on our kittens page.
Kitten delivery questions
Is it safe for a kitten to fly interstate?
Yes, when it is done properly. Your kitten travels in an airline-approved carrier, booked through a licensed pet transport company, in the part of the aircraft set aside for live animals, which is pressurised and temperature controlled. Kittens go at twelve to thirteen weeks, healthy and vaccinated, and most arrive sleepy and hungry. I book direct flights wherever the route allows.
How much does it cost to fly a kitten in Australia?
Usually $350 to $550, depending on the destination and the airline. It covers the pet transport company's booking, handling, the airline fare and an approved carrier. I charge it at cost and pass on their invoice with no markup. Collecting from Bowral yourself costs nothing extra.
Can I pick up my Ragdoll kitten from the airport?
Yes, that is how flying works. You collect your kitten from the pet transport company or airline freight area at your capital-city airport, usually about an hour after the flight lands. You will need photo ID and the booking reference I send you. Bring a towel for the carrier, but leave the kitten inside until you are home.
Do you deliver Ragdoll kittens to regional towns?
Flights go to capital-city airports, so most regional families either collect at the nearest capital or drive to Bowral. Families in regional NSW often make a day trip of it. If you are a long way from any capital, tell me where you are when you inquire and I will tell you the most practical option.
Interstate and want a Ragdoll?
Send an inquiry and tell me your nearest airport. I will confirm the likely cost and dates for your kitten's flight.
