About us

About Shannon and family, Ragdoll breeders in Bowral

I'm Shannon. My family and I breed Ragdoll kittens from our home in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands of NSW, about an hour and a half south-west of Sydney.

Regal Ragdoll Kittens is small on purpose. We have three queens and one king, we breed two or three litters a year, and every kitten is raised inside the house with us. I answer every inquiry and every phone call myself, so the person you talk to before you buy is the same person who raised your kitten.

How our home cattery runs

Our cats live with us, not in a shed or a cattery block out the back. The queens have the run of the house, and Atticus has his own room and a large outdoor run off the back of the house. Kittens are born in a birthing box in the spare room, where it is quiet and warm, and spend their first three weeks there with their mother.

From about four weeks they move into the busy part of the house. They spend their days in the kitchen and lounge room, where the radio is on, the kids come home from school, the vacuum goes over the floor and our kelpie wanders past without much interest. My two children handle the kittens every day, supervised, and by the time a kitten leaves they have been picked up, carried, brushed and fussed over hundreds of times.

That is not just nice to have. The weeks between about three and nine weeks old are when kittens learn what is normal and safe, and a kitten who has met noise, children and a dog in that window grows into a calm adult who settles quickly in a new home.

What we stand for

  • Health testing, every time. Every breeding cat is DNA tested negative for HCM (RD) and PKD before they have a litter. You can see the results for each parent on our queens and king page.
  • No kittens before twelve weeks. Ours go home at twelve to thirteen weeks, desexed, vaccinated and vet checked, even though selling at eight weeks would be easier for us.
  • Straight answers. If I don't think a Ragdoll suits your household, I will say so. Our Ragdoll breed guide covers the downsides as well as the good bits.
  • Openness. Our NSW Breeder ID is B0273618228, our prices and what they include are published on the Ragdoll kittens for sale page, and you are welcome to visit or video call before paying anything.
  • For life. Once you have one of our kittens, you can call me with any question for as long as you have them. If you can ever no longer keep your cat, I will help rehome them or take them back.

Registered with the NSW Cat Fanciers' Association

We breed under the NSW Cat Fanciers' Association, a member body of the Australian Cat Federation. Our kittens are registered and come with pedigree papers, and our NSW Breeder Identification Number appears on every listing, as NSW law requires for anyone advertising kittens for sale.

Visiting us in Bowral

Visits are by appointment once kittens are six weeks old. We are an easy drive from Sydney, Wollongong and Canberra, and many families make a day of it in the Highlands. If you are interstate, I will set up a video call so you can see the kittens, their mother and the house. Our kitten delivery page has drive times and flight details.
